Since 2011, GrowGood has been working in partnership with The Salvation Army to transform and maintain a 1.5-acre parcel of land adjacent to The Salvation Army's Bell Homeless Shelter into an urban farm. The Bell Shelter - the largest homeless shelter west of the Mississippi - operates a comprehensive program that offers transitional care for up to 350 homeless men, women, and veterans.
GrowGood's no-till, biodynamic urban farm provides the Shelter’s kitchen with substantial quantities of fresh, organic fruits and vegetables as well as therapeutic and employment opportunities for residents. In 2016, GrowGood's farm provided over 7,100 lbs. of organic produce to the Shelter's kitchen, which serves over 6,000 meals per week.
